Adani Ports Establishes New Subsidiary in Oman
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest private port operator, has expanded its international footprint by establishing a new subsidiary in Oman. Named Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal, the company was incorporated on October 21, 2026, through Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of APSEZ.

According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the new entity will support local offshore operations as part of APSEZ’s strategy to strengthen its position as a global integrated transport operator.
Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal has a share capital of 500,000 Omani rials, divided into 100 shares valued at 5,000 rials each. Adani International Ports Holdings holds the entire shareholding, making the new entity a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of APSEZ.
Oman Adds Strategic Value to Global Expansion
Oman occupies a strategic position along major shipping routes connecting India, the Persian Gulf, East Africa and other international markets. Its commercial ports, including Sohar, Duqm and Salalah, support container shipping, industrial cargo, energy exports and logistics operations.
Establishing a locally registered company gives APSEZ a platform to conduct business in Oman and explore future opportunities in the region. However, the company has not announced a specific port acquisition, terminal concession, construction project or investment commitment linked to the new subsidiary.
APSEZ Strengthens Its International Port Network
The Oman subsidiary adds to APSEZ’s existing overseas presence. The company has expanded beyond India through port operations, terminal concessions and partnerships in international markets.
In Tanzania, APSEZ operates Container Terminal 2 at Dar es Salaam Port under a 30-year concession agreement signed in 2024. In Sri Lanka, the company is part of the consortium developing Colombo West International Terminal, which began operations in April 2025.
These projects reflect APSEZ’s strategy of building an international network of ports and logistics infrastructure to connect major trade routes. The Oman subsidiary could support further regional expansion, although its specific activities and operational plans have not yet been disclosed.
Focus on Integrated Transport and Maritime Services
APSEZ has been broadening its business across ports, logistics, marine services and offshore operations. Its international expansion is intended to create a geographically diversified platform and strengthen its participation in global trade.
The establishment of Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal marks a new corporate presence in the Middle East. The scale of its future operations will depend on the projects, partnerships and commercial agreements the company may pursue in Oman.
For now, APSEZ has confirmed the subsidiary’s incorporation and its role in supporting local offshore operations, but has not outlined a specific development timeline or project investment.
