Adani Group is expanding its presence in Assam with plans for an aero-city near the new Guwahati airport terminal, along with pumped storage power, cement and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) projects, according to Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airport Holdings.
Aero City Planned Near Guwahati Airport
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for Adani Power’s 3,200 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Dhubri district, Jeet Adani said the group is developing an aero-city near the new Guwahati airport terminal.
He said the group currently has three major projects in Assam, while additional cement and MRO projects are also in the pipeline.
Power and Cement Projects in the Pipeline
The planned projects include a thermal power plant, a pumped storage project (PSP), two cement projects and an MRO facility.
The expansion will strengthen Adani Group’s presence in Assam across sectors such as power, aviation and cement.
Vidya Mandir School Also Planned
Jeet Adani also said the group plans to establish its Vidya Mandir School in the area once the projects begin. The school is expected to provide free education to children in the region.
Adani Group Targets Higher Investment in Northeast
The group has previously committed to investing Rs 1 lakh crore in the Northeast. Jeet Adani said the target could be exceeded if more investment opportunities emerge in Assam and other northeastern states.
He said the group is focused on identifying projects that can support investment, employment and business opportunities across the region.
Focus on Jobs and Local Growth
Adani Group has said its investments in Assam are already translating into projects on the ground. As the projects progress, they are expected to create more local employment and business opportunities.
The group’s expansion is aimed at supporting Assam’s investment climate while creating jobs and strengthening infrastructure across the state.
