Reliance Foundation has handed over 25 electric buses and a dedicated electric vehicle charging station to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), strengthening the temple authority’s efforts to provide cleaner and more sustainable transport for pilgrims visiting Tirumala.
The buses were formally flagged off by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at an event in Tirumala on September 16, 2026. The contribution comes ahead of the two Srivari Brahmotsavams, which are expected to draw large numbers of pilgrims to the hill shrine.
The initiative fulfils a commitment made by Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, during his visit to Tirumala in June 2026. He had committed to providing 25 electric buses to support TTD’s green mobility efforts.
Reliance Foundation and TTD have also worked together to develop the charging facilities and other infrastructure needed to operate the electric bus fleet.
The new buses are expected to reduce dependence on conventional fuel-powered vehicles and provide more environmentally responsible transportation for the millions of devotees who visit Tirumala every year.
The electric mobility initiative is a joint effort involving Reliance Foundation and Jio-bp. While Reliance Foundation provided philanthropic support, Jio-bp contributed its expertise in electric mobility and EV charging infrastructure.
The initiative is part of Reliance’s broader focus on sustainable development and cleaner mobility solutions across India.
