US-based automated testing equipment and robotics company Teradyne has opened a new office in Bengaluru as it looks to expand its support for India’s growing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector.
The new office comes at a time when India is increasing investments in semiconductor manufacturing, chip testing, packaging and related infrastructure under the India Semiconductor Mission.
Bengaluru Office to Support Customers
Located at Bagmane Cosmos Tech Park, the new Bengaluru facility will serve as Teradyne’s local centre for customer engagement, applications support, training and industry partnerships.
The company said the office marks a formal expansion of its presence in India and will help it work more closely with customers and other stakeholders in the country’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Focus on India’s Semiconductor Industry
Teradyne President and CEO Greg Smith said India is entering an important phase in its semiconductor development and that the company’s permanent presence in Bengaluru reflects its long-term focus on the Indian market.
Teradyne plans to work with customers, government bodies and industry participants as India develops capabilities across semiconductor fabrication, packaging and testing.
The company’s semiconductor testing solutions cover multiple stages of the chip supply chain, from wafer manufacturing to data-centre applications.
Support for Karnataka’s Tech Ecosystem
The new office will also strengthen Teradyne’s engagement with Karnataka’s semiconductor design, fabless, prototyping, OSAT and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, said Teradyne’s presence could support the development of India’s semiconductor value chain and manufacturing ecosystem.
Robotics Business Adds to India Presence
Along with semiconductor testing solutions, Teradyne operates a robotics business that provides automation systems for manufacturing, logistics and data-centre operations.
The company said its Bengaluru presence will help it expand engagement across India’s broader electronics and advanced manufacturing industries.
Karnataka Seeks Industry Collaboration
Karnataka Electronics and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge said Teradyne’s decision to establish an office in Bengaluru reflects confidence in the state’s technology and innovation ecosystem.
He said the state government would work to encourage collaboration between Teradyne, startups, academic institutions and Centres of Excellence, particularly in areas linked to the semiconductor supply chain.
Teradyne Expands India Strategy
Teradyne’s India operations are being led by country manager Alpa Sood. The company said the Bengaluru office will be part of its wider strategy to deepen engagement with India’s semiconductor and electronics industries.
The expansion also comes as demand for semiconductor testing and manufacturing infrastructure rises, driven in part by increasing investments across the chip supply chain and the growth of artificial intelligence technologies.
