Malayalam film actors Kunchacko Boban and Prithviraj Sukumaran have been appointed as brand ambassadors of the Kerala Forest Department. The state government has issued an official order confirming their appointments, which will be honorary.

The department plans to use the popularity of the two actors and the reach of cinema to strengthen public awareness about forest and wildlife conservation. Their responsibilities will cover seven key areas, ranging from conservation campaigns and digital communication to environmental education and public participation.
Seven Areas of Responsibility
The actors will participate in awareness campaigns through public events, recorded messages and digital platforms. They will also help promote selected Forest Department initiatives, public services and conservation programmes.
Another focus will be encouraging children and young people to develop an interest in nature. The actors will support educational programmes, interactive sessions and nature study camps.
They will also share verified conservation messages, awareness videos and information about departmental activities through official social media platforms. The department plans to explore creative communication methods, including cinema, to take conservation messages to wider audiences.
Promoting Human-Wildlife Coexistence
The ambassadors will help promote responsible behaviour towards wildlife and respect for communities dependent on forests. They will also create awareness about safe responses to human-wildlife encounters and encourage public participation in conservation activities.
Their work will further highlight the importance of habitats, biodiversity, ecological balance and sustainable coexistence between people and nature.
Using Cinema for Conservation Awareness
The appointment is part of the Forest Department’s effort to connect with wider audiences through familiar public figures and popular communication platforms. By involving actors with a strong public following, the department aims to make conservation messaging more accessible, particularly among younger audiences.
The initiative will combine public outreach, digital campaigns and educational activities to strengthen awareness about protecting Kerala’s forests and wildlife.
