Chinese automaker Denza is preparing to enter the Indian market with a range of premium vehicles. The brand is expected to introduce the D9 luxury MPV along with the Z9 GT high-performance fastback.
Denza, a joint venture between BYD and Daimler AG, is expected to position itself as a premium brand above BYD in India.
Z9 GT Could Bring 1,140 BHP
The Denza Z9 GT is a four-door fastback available internationally with both electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. For India, the company is likely to introduce the fully electric version.
The EV uses three electric motors that together produce an impressive 1,140 BHP. Denza claims the Z9 GT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 km/h.
600 Km Range and Ultra Fast Charging
The Z9 GT comes with a 122.5 kWh battery pack and offers a claimed range of 600 km under the WLTP testing cycle.
One of its key features is its ultra-fast charging capability. The vehicle supports charging at up to 1,500 kW, with Denza claiming that the battery can be charged from 10% to 97% in around nine minutes.
D9 MPV to Take on Toyota Vellfire
Alongside the Z9 GT, Denza is expected to bring the D9 luxury MPV to India. The model is likely to compete with premium MPVs such as the Toyota Vellfire.
The D9 uses a 103 kWh battery and has a claimed range of 520 km. Its electric motor produces 309 BHP and 360 Nm of torque.
Denza to Sit Above BYD in India
Denza was established as a joint venture between Chinese automaker BYD and Daimler AG. The brand has been developed as a premium vehicle maker, offering models positioned above BYD’s mainstream electric vehicle range.
In India, Denza is expected to follow the same premium positioning, with the D9 and Z9 GT potentially forming part of its initial product lineup.
