KSRTC has introduced a new bus sponsorship scheme as part of the state government’s 100-day action plan to improve public transport facilities across Kerala.
Under the scheme, private and public sector companies, business establishments, local bodies, cooperatives, trusts, social organisations, clubs and individuals can purchase and donate buses to KSRTC. Buses can also be sponsored using CSR funds.

Sponsors can either purchase the vehicle directly and hand it over to KSRTC or provide the required funds. If financial assistance is provided, KSRTC will purchase the bus through tender procedures.
The scheme covers buses ranging from 9 to 15 metres, including AC premium buses, AC seaters, AC sleepers, Super Fast and Fast Passenger buses. The initiative aims to strengthen services in rural areas and replace vehicles that have completed their service life.
Buses received through sponsorship will be registered in the name of the KSRTC Managing Director and will become permanent assets of the corporation. KSRTC will retain full control over maintenance, insurance, ticket revenue, staff recruitment and operations.
Sponsors will be allowed to display advertisements on the sponsored bus for 10 years. Advertising can cover up to 60% of the vehicle’s exterior, excluding the front and windows, and up to 30% of the interior. The words ‘Sponsored By’ along with the sponsor’s name can also be displayed.
Political, religious, illegal or objectionable advertisements will not be permitted, and all advertisement designs will require prior approval from KSRTC.
