A special Lulu cargo flight departed from Kochi carrying 45 tonnes of fruits, vegetables and banana leaves for Onam celebrations across the Gulf.
The National Airlines cargo flight departed from Kochi at 10:40 am, carrying fresh produce and banana leaves required for the traditional Onam Sadya.
Another cargo flight carrying 60 tonnes of fruits, vegetables and banana leaves is scheduled to depart from Kochi on August 20.
Under Lulu Fair Export, more than three lakh fresh produce items are being transported to Lulu stores across the Gulf countries. The initiative is aimed at ensuring the availability of essential food items for Malayali expatriates during the Onam season.
Lulu Group Chairman M.A. Yusuff Ali had earlier announced measures to ensure adequate availability of essential food products for expatriates during the festive season.
