The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts worth approximately ₹1,577 crore with Tata Advanced Systems Limited and NIBE Private Limited for the procurement of Loiter Munition Systems, along with munitions and other accessories, for the Indian Army.

The contracts were signed in New Delhi on August 14, 2026, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The Loiter Munition System is intended to enhance the capabilities of the Army’s Artillery Regiments and strengthen overall operational effectiveness.
The acquisition is being carried out under the Buy (Indian) category through the Fast Track Procedure, giving a boost to domestic defence manufacturing.
The procurement marks another step towards modernising the Indian Army while strengthening indigenous defence production under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
