N Chandrasekaran’s journey to the top of the Tata Group began far from the boardrooms of corporate India.
Born in Mohanur, Tamil Nadu, Chandrasekaran studied at a government school before pursuing higher education in science and later completing his master’s degree in computer applications.
His professional journey began at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 1987. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and eventually became the company’s CEO and managing director.
His performance at TCS paved the way for a larger leadership role within the Tata Group. In 2017, Chandrasekaran became chairman of Tata Sons, succeeding Ratan Tata.
