IndiGo Cargo has become the first airline to operate an international dedicated freighter flight from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI). The inaugural service departed for Sharjah using an Airbus A321 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the airport’s cargo expansion.
The new service will operate on the Bengaluru–Navi Mumbai–Sharjah–Delhi route, carrying a mix of general cargo and perishables. According to IndiGo Cargo, the Navi Mumbai–Sharjah sector will run as a regular non-scheduled freighter service, strengthening cargo connectivity between India and the UAE.
The launch comes as Navi Mumbai International Airport continues to expand its cargo capabilities following the start of international cargo handling through passenger flights. The dedicated freighter operation is expected to boost exports, improve logistics efficiency and reinforce the airport’s position as an emerging cargo hub for western India.
