IndiGo co-founder Rahul Bhatia is reportedly preparing his son, Madhav Bhatia, for a possible future leadership role at the airline.
Madhav, who is in his mid-20s, has reportedly been attending IndiGo’s executive committee meetings over the past few months and has been paired with senior executives across departments. Since graduating in 2023, he has also been mentored by Aditya Pande, CEO of InterGlobe Enterprises, the Bhatia family’s holding company and IndiGo’s largest shareholder.

According to the report, the succession plan is focused on gradually exposing Madhav to the business rather than directly placing him in a top leadership position. He is expected to learn the airline’s operations and wider InterGlobe businesses while working closely with experienced executives.
The move comes at a significant time for IndiGo, which is undergoing a leadership transition and preparing for its next phase of international expansion. Rahul Bhatia has also taken a more active role in the airline’s operations amid increased promoter oversight.
The development highlights a broader succession strategy at one of India’s largest airlines, as the Bhatia family looks to prepare the next generation for a possible future role in the IndiGo and InterGlobe business empire.
