Passengers who accidentally leave their original reserved train tickets at home or elsewhere while travelling need not panic. Indian Railways has provisions to assist passengers in such situations, officials from the Raipur Railway Division of South East Central Railway said.

According to railway guidelines, if a passenger forgets to carry a reserved ticket issued through a Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter, a family member or authorised person can submit the original ticket to the Station Master at the departure station.
After verifying the ticket details, the Station Master will communicate the required information to the next station on the train’s route as per railway rules. Based on this official confirmation, railway authorities can take necessary steps to help the passenger continue the journey.
However, the facility is available only for original reserved tickets purchased from railway reservation counters. It does not apply to online tickets booked through IRCTC.
Railway officials advise passengers who realise they have forgotten their counter-issued tickets to immediately inform the Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) onboard. At the same time, they should ask family members or authorised representatives to submit the original ticket at the departure station as soon as possible to avoid delays.
Passengers can also contact the railway helpline number 139 for assistance at any time.
Indian Railways has urged travellers to check their tickets and important travel documents before starting their journey to prevent unnecessary inconvenience and ensure a smoother travel experience.
