Social media has been flooded with sensational claims that Iraqi authorities recovered US$57 million (around ₹490 crore) in cash, 27 kilograms of gold, and even gold-made bras and panties during a raid on the residence of Iraqi politician Hind Al-Abbasi. Images showing stacks of cash, gold bars and luxury items have gone viral, fuelling widespread speculation.

What is confirmed is that Iraq has launched a major anti-corruption crackdown targeting politicians and government officials accused of corruption and money laundering. Authorities have conducted multiple raids, seized significant amounts of cash and gold, and detained dozens of suspects as part of the ongoing investigation.
However, officials have not confirmed that the viral images or the reported seizure of US$57 million, 27 kg of gold, and gold-made undergarments were all recovered from Hind Al-Abbasi’s residence. The widely circulated claim about gold underwear also remains unverified, despite gaining massive attention online.
While Iraq’s anti-corruption campaign is real and ongoing, many of the dramatic details circulating on social media have yet to be backed by official evidence. Authorities continue to investigate corruption allegations, but several viral claims surrounding the raid remain unconfirmed.
