Indian mountaineer and Dubai-based banker Shradha Gupta has successfully summited Mount Everest, completing one of the world’s most demanding high-altitude expeditions. Everest, located in the Himalayas on the Nepal-Tibet border, stands at 8,849 metres above sea level and is regarded as the ultimate challenge in mountaineering.
Gupta’s climb is especially remarkable because she entered serious mountaineering only about three years ago. Since then, she has rapidly progressed from recreational hiking in Dubai to conquering several major international peaks, including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Aconcagua in South America, and Mount Manaslu in Nepal.
Apart from her achievements in mountaineering, Shradha Gupta also leads the corporate business operations for the Middle East at DBS Bank. Her dual journey of handling a senior banking leadership role while training for extreme mountain expeditions has drawn widespread attention and admiration.
The Everest summit attempt was conducted with Elite Expeditions, the climbing company founded by celebrated mountaineer Nirmal Purja. The climb required months of physical conditioning, acclimatisation, and endurance training to survive the extreme conditions of Everest’s “death zone,” where oxygen levels are critically low.
