Amazon has launched its upgraded Alexa+ conversational assistant in India, bringing support for both Hindi and English. The new version is designed to hold longer conversations, understand context and handle more complex tasks.

Alexa+ is currently available to customers in India through Early Access. Following the testing period, Amazon plans to offer the service free to Prime members, while non-Prime users will be charged Rs 2,000 per month.
Alexa Plus can handle longer conversations
The upgraded Alexa+ is designed to maintain context across conversations and respond more naturally. Amazon has also given the assistant a more expressive voice and the ability to complete multi-step tasks.
Users can ask Alexa+ to perform tasks such as ordering groceries through Amazon Now and controlling compatible smart home devices.
The assistant also supports switching between Hindi and English during the same conversation.
Support for Indian apps and services
Alexa+ has been integrated with several India-based services, expanding the range of tasks users can complete through voice commands.
The assistant works with Swiggy for food delivery, District for ticket bookings, and travel platforms including Tripadvisor and MakeMyTrip. It also supports restaurant reservations through EazyDiner.
For entertainment, Alexa+ is integrated with music services including Amazon Music and JioSaavn.
Alexa Plus was tested in India earlier
Amazon began testing Alexa+ in India earlier this year. In June, the company invited selected users to participate in an early testing programme that included conversations in Hindi.
The company later expanded testing to an English version of the upgraded assistant before its wider launch in India.
Alexa has been available in India since 2017
Amazon first introduced Alexa in India in English in 2017 and added Hindi support in 2019.
With more than 600 million Hindi speakers in India, the country represents a major market for Amazon’s voice assistant and smart home products.
Amazon said its smart home device business in India has grown by 20% compared with last year, although it did not disclose specific sales figures.
Alexa Plus expands globally
Amazon first announced its generative AI-powered Alexa+ in 2025 and made it available to all users in the US in 2026.
The company has since expanded Alexa+ to markets including the UK, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy and Germany, with support adapted to local languages and regional contexts.
