The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Israel has announced applications for its 2026–2027 scholarship programme, inviting international students to apply for academic study and Hebrew language courses in the country.
Application deadline set for June 1, 2026
According to the official announcement, applications must be submitted by June 1, 2026. The programme is open to international applicants holding at least a BA or BSc degree with a strong academic record.
Two types of scholarship tracks
The initiative offers two main options:
- An eight-month academic scholarship running from October to June
- A three-week Hebrew summer language course scholarship
Courses and financial support
Eligible academic programmes include MA, PhD, post-doctoral studies, international programmes, and special academic courses.
The academic scholarship covers 50% of tuition fees up to $6,000, along with a monthly stipend for eight months and basic health insurance.
The Hebrew summer course includes full tuition coverage, dormitory accommodation, a three-week allowance, and basic health insurance. Ulpan scholarships will also be awarded for Summer 2026.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be under 35 years of age at the start of the academic year and must not hold Israeli citizenship. They are also required to meet English language requirements set by their chosen institution. Those applying for Hebrew-based study or research must demonstrate Hebrew proficiency.
Costs not covered
The scholarship does not include accommodation, travel, or transportation costs to and from Israel, which must be borne by the applicant.
Visa and study conditions
Applicants must secure admission to an institution recognised by the Israeli Council for Higher Education. Successful candidates will receive an A2 student visa, which does not permit employment during the scholarship period.
Application process
Interested candidates must contact their local Israeli embassy or consulate for application timelines and selection details.
Applicants are required to fill out the official government scholarship form, complete a medical form certified by a licensed practitioner, and submit three copies of the application along with supporting documents.
Submissions must be made through the embassy in the applicant’s home country before the specified deadline.
Final selection decisions are expected by July, after which the MFA will notify successful candidates.
