The Adani Group has announced a long-term investment plan of ₹70,000 crore across energy, infrastructure, logistics, aviation and community development in Vidarbha, aiming to position the region as a hub for clean energy, industrial manufacturing and integrated logistics.

Speaking at the Advantage Vidarbha 2026 conclave in Nagpur on Friday, Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airports, said the Group’s engagement in Vidarbha was intended to be long term and aligned with national priorities such as energy security, sustainable infrastructure and inclusive growth.
He said Vidarbha was becoming an important contributor to Maharashtra’s and India’s growth, supported by political leadership, infrastructure development and private investment. The Adani Group operates the 3,300 MW supercritical thermal power plant at Tiroda, the largest in Maharashtra, and revived the 600 MW Butibori power plant in 2025. Together with a 25-year power supply agreement, the Group now provides 6,600 MW of electricity to the state, combining solar power from Khavda with thermal generation to support grid stability.
One of the major projects announced is a ₹70,000 crore integrated coal gasification and downstream derivatives complex at Linga in Kalmeshwar. The project is expected to create around 30,000 direct jobs, strengthen advanced chemical manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on imports for key industrial inputs. According to Mr Adani, the project would support national self-reliance and enhance Nagpur’s role in clean energy–linked industrial technologies.
In logistics, the Group is expanding infrastructure through a 75-acre Inland Container Depot at Borkhedi and the acquisition of 24 border check posts across Maharashtra, aimed at lowering freight costs and improving export competitiveness. The underground coal mine at Gondkhairi was cited as an example of responsible mining practices, with minimal land use, no displacement or blasting, rainwater harvesting and zero effluent discharge.
Vidarbha’s aviation sector is also set to expand with the acquisition of Indamer Technics Pvt Ltd and the development of a 30-acre Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility at MIHAN. The MRO complex, with 15 aircraft bays and FAA and DGCA certifications, is expected to position Nagpur as an emerging international maintenance hub connected to the Air Works global network.
Alongside infrastructure development, Mr Adani highlighted the Adani Foundation’s initiatives in Gondia and Nagpur, covering primary healthcare, education, women’s self-help groups, nutrition, solar lighting, clean water, sports and school infrastructure. On sustainability, he said the Tiroda plant follows zero-water-discharge practices, recycles fly ash for cement and agriculture, and contributes to the Group’s target of planting 100 million trees by 2030. Adani Energy Solutions aims to source 60 percent of its power from renewable energy by 2027.
Mr Adani said Vidarbha was now seeing tangible progress and credited national and state leadership for enabling the region’s development. He added that the Adani Group would continue to be a long-term partner in supporting economic growth, employment generation and sustainability in the region.
The Vidarbha strategy forms part of the Group’s broader commitment to Maharashtra. At the 56th World Economic Forum in Davos last month, Pranav Adani, Director, Adani Enterprises Limited, signed MoUs worth $66 billion with the Maharashtra government across renewable energy, power transmission, logistics, data centres and infrastructure.
