Australian all-rounder Cameron Green became one of the most expensive purchases in IPL history when Kolkata Knight Riders acquired him for ₹25.20 crore at the IPL 2026 auction. This makes him the third-highest paid player ever at an IPL auction and the priciest overseas player, surpassing records previously held by fellow Australians Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.
Green’s rising value in the league is evident. He made his IPL debut in 2023 with Mumbai Indians, scoring 452 runs—including an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls—and taking six wickets. In 2024, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he had a mixed season but still contributed 255 runs and 10 wickets in 13 matches.
He now joins a list of the IPL’s most expensive players, led by Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore in IPL 2025, followed by Shreyas Iyer at ₹26.75 crore to Punjab Kings.
Kolkata Knight Riders have featured prominently among high-value buys. In addition to Green’s ₹25.20 crore deal in 2026, they previously signed Mitchell Starc for ₹24.75 crore in 2024 and Venkatesh Iyer for ₹23.75 crore in 2025. Other notable big-ticket purchases include Pat Cummins to Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹20.50 crore in 2024, Sam Curran to Punjab Kings for ₹18.50 crore in 2023, and Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal to Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore each in 2025.
Interestingly, Green appears twice on the list, as Mumbai Indians had bought him for ₹17.50 crore in 2023, highlighting his consistent rise in the IPL player market.
