Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two of India’s senior batsmen, currently earn ₹7 crore annually under the BCCI’s A+ category. Both players have retired from Tests and T20Is in the past year and now feature only in ODIs. The board will decide at its 31st Annual General Meeting whether they will continue in the A+ bracket or be moved down to Grade A.

A demotion to Grade A would reduce their annual salary by ₹2 crore, bringing it down to ₹5 crore. The BCCI’s pay structure for contracted players is ₹7 crore for A+, ₹5 crore for A, ₹3 crore for B, and ₹1 crore for C. The upcoming AGM will finalise the pay structure for the 2025–26 cycle, taking into account recent retirements and performance assessments.

Alongside Kohli and Rohit, other top players like Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and potentially Shubman Gill will also have their categories and salaries reviewed.
