The Kerala government has rolled out the ‘Prajwala – Connect to Work’ scholarship to assist young job aspirants. Eligible candidates between 18 and 30 years of age will receive ₹1,000 per month for up to 12 months.

Benefiting Thousands of Youths
The scheme aims to support up to 5 lakh youths across Kerala, especially those engaged in skill development programs or preparing for competitive exams. The initiative was announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently, alongside other welfare measures ahead of the upcoming elections.
Objective of the Scholarship
The scholarship is designed to empower economically disadvantaged youth who wish to enhance their employability but face financial challenges. Managed by the Directorate of Employment, the programme encourages continuous learning, skill training, and readiness for employment.
Direct Benefit Transfer
Monthly assistance will be directly credited to the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of beneficiaries through the direct benefit transfer system.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must be permanent residents of Kerala, aged 18 to 30, and from families earning no more than ₹1 lakh annually. Those already receiving similar financial aid from government or other agencies are not eligible.
Covered Training and Exams
The scholarship supports those enrolled in recognised skill development courses or preparing for competitive exams such as UPSC, KPSC, SSC, defence, banking, railways, and similar recruitment tests. Programs run by central or state government departments, public sector undertakings, or approved institutions are included. Financial assistance will cease once the beneficiary gains employment during the scholarship period.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted online via the Employment Directorate portal at eemployment.kerala.gov.in. Verification will occur at multiple levels, with the Directorate overseeing monitoring and disbursement. Kerala Social Security Pension Ltd will process and transfer the scholarship after completing verification.
