India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has completed a successful trial run, reaching a top speed of 180 kmph on the Sawai Madhopur–Kota–Nagda section, according to the West Central Railway zone. The achievement marks a major step in Indian Railways’ efforts under Mission Gati Shakti to boost both speed and efficiency across the national network.
Designed and Built by BEML
Developed by BEML Limited, the Vande Bharat Sleeper features a stainless steel body, advanced crashworthy design, and reinforced safety elements like crash buffers and couplers to protect passengers during impact. The train also meets the highest fire safety standard — EN45545 HL3 — ensuring maximum safety for long-distance operations.

Coach Configuration and Capacity
The trainset includes 16 coaches: 11 AC three-tier, 4 AC two-tier, and 1 AC first-class coach, offering a total of 823 berths. Of these, 611 are in three-tier, 188 in two-tier, and 24 in first-class.
