In a landmark moment for Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has inaugurated the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium in Nalanda, which now stands as India’s second-largest cricket stadium, after the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The arena is built over an expansive 90 acres, costing about ₹1,121 crore to come up. Designed to meet the stringent requirements of both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rajgir Stadium boasts modern facilities, spectator-friendly amenities, and top-tier infrastructure.

One of its standout features is the playing pitch made from high-quality red soil imported from Pune, adding to the venue’s credentials. The stadium has a seating capacity of around 40,000, placing it among the nation’s premier cricket venues. While initial plans pegged its cost at ₹740 crore, the investment rose due to inclusion of additional modern structures and facilities.
