Agnikul Cosmos Plans Fully Reusable Rockets

Chennai-based space startup Agnikul Cosmos announced at the International Astronautical Congress in Sydney that its upcoming rockets will be fully reusable, aiming to provide satellite-launch services at globally competitive prices. The company emphasized that no part of its rockets will be discarded, building on last year’s sub-orbital test of its 3D-printed rocket, Agnibaan SOrTeD.

Co-founder and CEO Srinath Ravichandran highlighted that affordability and flexibility have been central to the vehicle designs from day one. He also credited policy support and technical guidance from IN-SPACe and ISRO for enabling the company to explore rocket-stage recovery and reuse.

Agnikul holds multiple patents in India, the US, and Europe covering proprietary multi-purpose and reusable technologies. Central to its strategy are innovations like combined launch vehicle–satellite systems and semi-cryogenic propellant technology, both designed to allow efficient refurbishment and cost-effective re-flights.

The company’s controlled-ascent test flight last year, guided by its proprietary autopilot algorithms, validated critical reusable flight technologies. Agnikul’s in-house development capabilities, along with its patent-backed systems, support scalable, customizable, and affordable launch services.

Co-founder and COO Moin SPM noted that these new strategies aim to deliver cost-efficient launch solutions for small satellite missions worldwide. By integrating advanced technologies for operational efficiency and reusability, Agnikul aims to strengthen India’s role in the global space economy while adhering to international debris-mitigation standards.
