Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Ltd, has announced plans to establish a 2,000-bed medical city in Mumbai. Positioned as one of India’s most ambitious private healthcare projects, the facility will combine advanced technology with world-class medical expertise.

The project was unveiled by Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, during the 48th annual general meeting of Reliance Industries on August 29. Envisioned as more than a hospital, the medical city will bring together AI-powered diagnostics, advanced medical technology, and leading doctors from India and abroad. Alongside healthcare services, it will also include a medical college to train future generations of healthcare professionals.
The announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, which has treated over 3.3 million patients and is recognised among India’s leading multi-specialty hospitals. Expanding its services, the hospital is opening a new wing named “Jeevan,” dedicated to chemotherapy and immunotherapy with a focus on advanced paediatric oncology.
Reliance Foundation highlighted that its new initiatives reflect a broader mission to make world-class healthcare both accessible and affordable. The medical city project aligns with India’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and global standards into its healthcare ecosystem.
