Technopark, located at Vaidyankunnu near the national highway in Thiruvananthapuram, is completing 35 years on July 28, 2025. Once a stretch of cashew trees, the site is now home to one of Asia’s largest and most eco-friendly IT parks. Technopark has become the face of Kerala’s IT journey, thanks to long-term leadership and political collaboration.
A Pillar of Kerala’s Knowledge Economy
Over the years, Technopark has played a major role in transforming Thiruvananthapuram into a technology-driven city and strengthening Kerala’s knowledge-based economy. It provides world-class infrastructure, eco-certified campuses, and a business-supportive atmosphere, making it attractive for global tech giants, national leaders, and startups alike.
Strong Export Performance and Future Growth
Technopark companies achieved IT exports worth ₹13,255 crore in 2023–24. A growth of 15% is expected in 2024–25. The park remains a critical driver of Kerala’s overall economic progress.
First Steps and Long-term Planning
Technopark’s first company was Brahmasoft, now RR Donnelley, employing over 2,000 people. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was an early tenant and played a key role in creating a master plan for Technopark’s long-term development.
A Thriving Ecosystem for 35 Years
CEO Col. Sanjeev Nair (Retd) said Technopark has built a strong ecosystem over the last 35 years, enabling global firms, startups, and SMEs to grow. It holds a CRISIL A+/Stable rating for four years in a row and follows strong ESG standards. These factors, along with continuous expansion, support its credibility and future innovation.
Thiruvananthapuram’s Advantages
The CEO also pointed out that Technopark benefits from the city’s skilled workforce, affordable living, advanced infrastructure, low attrition, and supportive land-leasing policies from the government.
Massive Presence Across 5 Campuses
Technopark operates five campuses—four in Thiruvananthapuram and one in Kollam—covering 760 acres with 12.72 million sq ft of IT space. Over 500 companies operate here, including Infosys, UST, TCS, HCLTech, Accenture, Tata Elxsi, Nissan Digital, Oracle, and Toonz Animation.
Home to Global Capability Centres and Institutions
Leading GCCs like EY, Allianz, Accenture, Nissan Digital, ICON, and Safran have major centres here. It also houses Kerala Startup Mission, Digital University Kerala, ICT Academy, Kerala Space Park, and the upcoming Digital Science Park.
International Interest and Co-Developer Partnerships
Firms like Armada and Dubai Insurance have chosen Technopark as their India base. Developers such as Embassy Taurus, Brigade Enterprises, Carnival Technopark, and others help expand the park’s infrastructure and ecosystem.
Expansion Plans and New Job Opportunities
Over 4 million sq ft of space is being developed, expected to create over 30,000 jobs. Key projects include Downtown Trivandrum (Taurus Embassy, Phase 3), TCS Campus (Phase 4), Brigade’s World Trade Center (Phase 1), and Working Women’s Hostel (Phase 5, Kollam).
Focus on GCCs and R&D Clusters
The expansion aims to attract more GCCs and strengthen R&D clusters. A GCC Studio Pad and a new Phase 4 master plan are in progress. Technopark is allocating land and workspaces to support emerging tech initiatives.
Emerging Tech Zones and Innovation Hubs
Upcoming developments include Kerala Space Park, Kerala Defence Innovation Zone, MSME Tech Centre, Emerging Tech Hub, Digital Science Park, MuLearn by GTech, and Unity Mall.

Technopark remains focused on sustainability. A 750 KLD sewage treatment plant was recently launched at Phase 3. It holds ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001 certifications, and many buildings have IGBC green certification.
