ISRO Transfers Key Technologies to Six Indian Firms

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has enabled the transfer of 10 cutting-edge technologies developed by ISRO to six Indian companies. These Technology Transfer Agreements (TTAs) were signed at IN-SPACe headquarters in Ahmedabad, in a tripartite format involving IN-SPACe, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), and the participating firms.

Expanding Commercial Access to ISRO Innovations
These agreements open the door for private players to commercially utilise advanced ISRO technologies across both space and non-space applications. The transferred technologies focus on satellite launch systems, ground station equipment, and geospatial applications. The move is expected to boost industry involvement, promote indigenous development, and reduce reliance on imported technologies.

Key Technologies and Their New Industry Users

  • Zetatek Technologies, Hyderabad: Received two inertial sensors — a Laser Gyroscope and Ceramic Servo Accelerometer — for use in satellite launch vehicles. Zetatek has over 25 years of experience in Inertial Navigation System (INS) testing and calibration.
  • Avantel and Jisnu Communications, Hyderabad: Acquired three technologies supporting ground station operations, including:
    • S/X/Ka tri-band dual circular polarised monopulse feed
    • Tri-axis antenna control servo system
    • Ku/C/L and S Band Cassegrain feed
These tools are expected to enhance India’s self-reliance in satellite communication infrastructure.
  • Amnex Info Technologies, Ahmedabad: Received two geospatial models from ISRO’s Space Applications Centre (SAC) for pest forecasting and crop yield estimation, useful in agricultural planning.
  • Jalkruti Water Solutions, Ahmedabad: Took over a multi-parameter portable bathymetry system developed by ISRO’s NRSC for UAV-based water resource monitoring.
  • Ramdev Chemicals, Ahmedabad: Licensed a ceramic-based flame-proof coating technology from VSSC/ISRO, originally meant for launch vehicles, now adapted for broader industrial uses.

IN-SPACe Emphasises Industry-Led Innovation
IN-SPACe Chairman Dr. Pawan Goenka said this transfer empowers the private sector to commercialise space innovations and deepen India’s space ecosystem. He stressed that ISRO’s robust R&D base should be actively leveraged to support industry-driven growth in space technology.

Support for Successful Technology Adoption
IN-SPACe Director Rajeev Jyoti added that ISRO, NSIL, and IN-SPACe will jointly offer full support to the recipient companies to help them effectively integrate and scale the transferred technologies.

Strengthening India’s Space Industry through Collaboration
This strategic technology transfer initiative is seen as a step forward in building indigenous capabilities and commercialising public R&D in India’s expanding space sector.
