Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Bengaluru Metro’s Pink Line on November 13, marking a major expansion of the city’s public transport network. The opening of the first operational stretch will take Namma Metro’s total network length beyond 100 km, reaching 103.6 km.

The first phase will cover a 7.5-km elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere in south Bengaluru. It will include six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere.
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said the Prime Minister will travel from Tavarekere to IIMB-Bilekahalli station before formally launching the services. Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda also confirmed the inauguration date.
Pink Line to Strengthen South Bengaluru Connectivity
The new stretch is expected to improve metro access along Bannerghatta Road and connect important residential and institutional areas, including Hulimavu, JP Nagar and IIM Bangalore. Jayadeva Hospital station will provide an interchange with the existing Yellow Line, which connects RV Road with Bommasandra and serves the Electronics City corridor.
The elevated section received safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety on October 28, clearing a key regulatory step before the start of passenger services.
Full Pink Line Targeted for 2027
The 7.5-km stretch is part of the 21.25-km Pink Line, which will connect Kalena Agrahara in south Bengaluru with Nagawara in the north. The complete corridor will have 18 stations, including a 13.76-km underground section.
Work on the underground stretch, including the installation and integration of platform screen doors and signalling systems, is still underway. Trial runs are planned, and the underground section is expected to become operational in 2027. BMRCL is targeting May 2027 for the opening of the entire Pink Line.
With the elevated section opening, Bengaluru will have the second-largest operational Metro network in India after Delhi, according to reports.
