India is in the final stages of negotiations with the Philippines for a fresh sale of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles in a deal estimated to be worth between $700 million and $800 million.

The Philippines is expected to purchase around five BrahMos systems, comprising nearly 60 missiles, according to sources familiar with the discussions. The proposed order would be significantly larger than Manila’s first $375 million BrahMos deal, signed in 2022.
India is nearing completion of deliveries under the initial agreement, which covered the supply of the missile system for naval use. The proposed follow-up purchase reflects the Philippines’ continued interest in expanding its defence capabilities.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has expressed interest in acquiring additional BrahMos missiles, according to Arsenio Andolong, spokesperson for the country’s defence ministry. Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro also said Manila had shared a wish list with Indian authorities to adapt the system to Philippine requirements.
The proposed acquisition comes as the Philippines strengthens its military and coastal defence capabilities amid rising tensions with China over competing territorial claims in the South China Sea.
BrahMos Expands Its Global Reach
Developed jointly by India and Russia, BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from land, sea and air platforms. It is among the fastest operational cruise missiles in the world.
India has been expanding its defence exports and international partnerships. In July 2026, New Delhi announced the supply of BrahMos missiles to Indonesia and also signed a deal with Vietnam. Discussions are under way with several other countries, including the UAE, Thailand, South Africa and Brazil.
India’s defence exports reached ₹38,424 crore in the financial year ended March 2026, registering growth of more than 62% over the previous year, according to government data.
The proposed Philippines deal remains under negotiation, with no final contract announcement yet from the Indian government or BrahMos Aerospace.
