Ravi Uppal, co-promoter of the Mahadev online betting app, has reportedly been arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai authorities detained the 46-year-old based on an Interpol Red Notice issued at the request of Indian investigating agencies, according to officials cited in media reports.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are now working to secure Uppal’s extradition to India. The development comes days after fellow Mahadev app co-promoter Saurabh Chandrakar was extradited from Oman. A CBI team brought Chandrakar to India on November 1 after an Omani court permitted his extradition in connection with a money laundering investigation.
Mahadev Betting App Investigation
Uppal and Chandrakar are among the key accused in the investigation into the Mahadev Online Book betting platform. Investigators allege that the platform operated from outside India through a network of betting panels and branches, facilitating bets on cricket, football and other events.
The ED has alleged that betting proceeds were routed through multiple bank accounts and transferred overseas through hawala channels. The agency has estimated proceeds of crime in the case at around ₹6,000 crore, while other official accounts have cited different estimates.
Uppal was previously detained in the UAE in 2023 following an Interpol notice but was later released. Investigators subsequently traced his movements outside the UAE. The latest arrest could help Indian agencies advance their investigation and efforts to bring him back to face proceedings in India.
The extradition process is underway, and further details on its timeline have not been disclosed.
