External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and a Quad foreign ministers’ meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 30–31, 2026. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the meetings, bringing together representatives to discuss global economic and strategic priorities.

The Quad meeting will take place on the sidelines of the G20 gathering. It will be the second meeting of Quad foreign ministers in 2026, following the previous meeting hosted by India in May.
Preparing for the Quad Leaders’ Summit
The foreign ministers are expected to outline the agenda for the next Quad leaders’ summit, planned for Manila in November on the sidelines of meetings associated with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The summit would be the first gathering of Quad leaders in two years, following the previous meeting in September 2024.
The Quad brings together India, the United States, Japan and Australia. The grouping focuses on cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, including regional security, maritime issues, infrastructure, technology and resilient supply chains.
G20 Discussions on Global Priorities
The G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta is expected to address global economic challenges, energy security, technological innovation and international cooperation. The United States, which holds the G20 presidency in 2026, has highlighted affordable and secure energy supplies and technology-led growth as key priorities.
The discussions come amid changing international trade and security dynamics, as countries seek to strengthen economic resilience and cooperation.
Jaishankar’s participation in both meetings reflects India’s continued engagement with the G20 and the Quad. The diplomatic discussions are also expected to help prepare for the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for December 14–15 in Miami, Florida.
