Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to invest $15.5 billion in India between 2026 and 2032, strengthening its presence in one of the world’s key automotive markets. The seven-year investment programme will focus on expanding manufacturing, enhancing research and development, strengthening local supply chains and developing future mobility technologies.

The investment will cover manufacturing expansion at Hyundai Motor India and Kia India. The group aims to increase production capacity to meet rising demand and strengthen India’s role as a global export hub.
Hyundai Motor Group also plans to invest approximately $700 million in its Indian R&D centre, including a vehicle testing track. The investment will support next-generation automotive technologies and the development of local engineering talent.
The company will also focus on localising automotive components, developing domestic suppliers and strengthening supply chains. Beyond manufacturing, planned investments may extend to electric vehicle charging infrastructure, specialised automotive financing, end-of-life vehicle recycling and new mobility services.
To coordinate the programme, Hyundai Motor Group plans to establish a dedicated investment entity in India. It will oversee investments, identify local partners and support collaboration with Indian suppliers.
The group currently has an annual manufacturing capacity of more than 1.4 million vehicles in India across its Hyundai and Kia facilities. The new investment is expected to generate additional employment across manufacturing, engineering, research and development, and supply chain operations, although the company has not specified the number of jobs to be created.
The commitment highlights India’s growing importance in Hyundai Motor Group’s global strategy, with manufacturing expansion, technology development and local partnerships set to shape its next phase of growth.
