The Statue of Unity in Gujarat is more than a towering monument. Located at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, the 182-metre statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has become a major tourism destination, combining history, architecture, engineering and nature.
The monument features a viewing gallery at 153 metres, offering panoramic views of the Narmada Valley and Sardar Sarovar Dam. The surrounding destination also includes the Valley of Flowers, Cactus Garden, Vishwa Van, Jungle Safari and other attractions.
The destination recently received a special visitor from Malayalam cinema. Actor Mammootty visited the Statue of Unity along with his wife Sulfath and close friends while he was in Gujarat for the 72nd National Film Awards. He walked around the monument and posed for photographs with his family and friends.
Mammootty was in Ekta Nagar to receive the Best Actor National Film Award for his performance in Bramayugam. He shared the award with Kartik Aaryan and received a standing ovation at the ceremony. This marked Mammootty’s fourth National Film Award.
Beyond the monument, visitors can explore the Narmada Valley, Sardar Sarovar Dam, gardens, safari experiences and adventure activities. The viewing gallery also offers a striking perspective of the surrounding landscape.
With its mix of heritage, nature, engineering and entertainment, the Statue of Unity has emerged as a major destination for travellers visiting Gujarat.
