India has highlighted 13 key outcomes from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit held in Bishkek, with security cooperation and action against transnational threats emerging as major priorities.
A key decision was the approval of regulations for a Universal Centre for Countering Challenges and Threats to the Security of SCO Member States. The proposed centre is aimed at improving coordination and information sharing against terrorism, extremism, organised crime and other cross-border threats.

The summit also advanced cooperation against narcotics, including programmes on drug addiction and the proliferation of synthetic drugs and their precursors through 2030.
The Bishkek Declaration is expected to give India a platform to articulate its positions on regional security, development and connectivity while strengthening engagement with Central Asia and the wider Eurasian region.
Other outcomes include cooperation on energy conservation, energy systems, climate change, disaster management and information sharing.
An MoU on artificial intelligence will provide scope for India to share its digital and AI experience, promote responsible and inclusive AI use, and expand technology and innovation partnerships within the SCO.
