India and the UAE could explore the creation of a regional maintenance, repair and overhaul hub for Rafale fighter jets as the global fleet crosses 250 aircraft.
India already operates Rafale fighters and has developed capabilities in aircraft maintenance and support. The UAE is also expanding its Rafale fleet following its agreement with France for the acquisition of the aircraft.
A regional MRO facility could serve Rafale operators across the region, potentially reducing maintenance turnaround times and improving operational availability.
For India, such a facility could strengthen its position in the global defence maintenance ecosystem while creating opportunities for local aerospace companies, skilled employment and technology development.
The proposal could also deepen India-UAE cooperation in defence, aerospace and aviation services.
