Apple’s next flagship smartphone series is already attracting attention as the company prepares for the expected launch of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. While Apple has not officially announced the launch date or specifications, several reports and leaks have offered clues about what could be coming.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to bring improvements in performance, battery life and camera capabilities while retaining much of the design language introduced with the previous generation.
iPhone 18 Pro Expected Launch Date
Apple has traditionally unveiled its major iPhone models around the second week of September.
According to recent leaks, Apple could potentially hold its iPhone 18 Pro launch event on September 9. However, the company has not confirmed the date, so the reported launch timeline should be treated as tentative.
iPhone 18 Pro Expected Design and Colours
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to retain a design similar to the iPhone 17 series rather than introducing a major visual overhaul.
However, Apple could introduce new colour options with the upcoming Pro models. Reports suggest the lineup could include Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Dark Gray and Silver finishes.
A20 Pro Chipset Could Bring Major Performance Gains
The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chipset.
One of the biggest changes could be the manufacturing technology behind the processor. Reports suggest the A20 Pro may be produced using TSMC’s 2nm process, potentially making it Apple’s first chip based on the smaller manufacturing technology.
The move to 2nm could deliver up to 15% faster performance and 30% greater efficiency compared with the previous generation, according to reports.
Apple is also reportedly considering TSMC’s Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module packaging technology. This could allow RAM to be integrated more closely with the processor, potentially improving Apple Intelligence performance while creating additional internal space.
Variable Aperture Camera May Be Introduced
The overall camera setup on the iPhone 18 Pro models may remain similar to the current generation, but Apple could introduce an important camera upgrade.
Reports suggest the main camera could feature a variable aperture, allowing users to manually control the amount of light entering the camera sensor.
Apple is also reportedly testing larger apertures for both the main and telephoto cameras. These changes could improve low-light photography and provide better control over background blur and subject separation.
iPhone 18 Pro Max Could Get a Larger Battery
The iPhone 18 Pro Max could receive its biggest battery upgrade yet.
According to leaks, the US version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery capacity of more than 5,000mAh.
Combined with a more efficient processor and possible improvements to display technology, the larger battery could deliver significantly longer battery life.
iPhone 18 Pro Expected Price
The iPhone 18 Pro series could also become more expensive.
A recent IDC report suggested that Apple could increase the price of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max by as much as $200.
The possible price increase comes as Apple faces higher costs linked to memory chips and other components. The company has already raised prices for some iPad and MacBook models amid growing pressure in the memory chip market.
However, Apple has not yet confirmed the pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
What to Expect From the iPhone 18 Pro Series
If the current reports are accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could bring improvements across several key areas, including a new 2nm A20 Pro chip, better efficiency, enhanced Apple Intelligence performance, variable-aperture cameras, improved low-light photography and a larger battery on the Pro Max.
The official launch date, specifications, colours and pricing will only be confirmed when Apple officially announces the new iPhone lineup.
