A major food safety inspection drive in Bengaluru has put several premium hotels under the scanner after officials found expired food, rotten vegetables, meat and other alleged safety violations during surprise inspections.

According to NDTV, 30 Food Safety and Drug Administration teams inspected 26 three-star and five-star hotels across Bengaluru. The inspections uncovered expired food products, fungal growth on vegetables, unhygienic storage and handling practices, and alleged violations of FSSAI labelling and segregation norms.
Among the hotels inspected were The Lalit Ashok, Shangri-La Bengaluru, Four Seasons Hotel, Vivanta Bengaluru Whitefield, Taj Yeshwantpur and Radisson Blu Atria. At Radisson Blu Atria, officials reportedly seized and destroyed 105 kg of expired food, including chicken, meat, fish and vegetables. At Taj Yeshwantpur, 72 kg of meat and fish were seized.
Officials collected 35 food samples for laboratory testing, covering items such as chicken, mutton, fish, milk, edible oil, spices and cheese. Authorities said further action will depend on laboratory results and the findings of the inspections.
The Karnataka health department has warned food businesses to comply strictly with food safety regulations, with legal action to follow wherever violations are confirmed.
