Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) has introduced an online liquor booking portal that allows customers aged 21 and above to check available stock, make digital payments and collect their orders from selected outlets using a QR code.

The new system, launched through the website Tasmace2e.in, aims to reduce long queues at TASMAC outlets and provide customers with better visibility of available brands and prices. However, the service currently does not include home delivery, with customers required to collect their orders directly from the selected outlet.
The portal allows users to browse liquor availability similar to an online shopping platform, check stock details, view maximum retail prices (MRP), and place orders digitally. Customers can search for nearby outlets within a 5 km to 25 km range or locate shops using district details and shop numbers.
After completing the payment, customers receive a QR code, which can be shown at the outlet to collect the order. The bottles will be provided at MRP rates, and only customers above the legal drinking age of 21 years will be able to use the service.
TASMAC officials said the platform is also aimed at improving transparency and reducing complaints related to overcharging by ensuring customers have access to official prices and stock information.
The portal has been developed by the RailTel team that previously worked on TASMAC’s end-to-end computerisation system. District managers and sales staff have been trained to manage stock updates and online orders.
Officials have also acknowledged that the system may face initial challenges, including possible differences between displayed stock and actual availability. The stock information may have a delay of around 30 minutes, and in cases where a product becomes unavailable after ordering, customers will either receive a refund or be redirected to another outlet.
The online launch comes alongside efforts to improve transparency at TASMAC outlets following directions from the Madras High Court. The court has instructed TASMAC and enforcement authorities to ensure proper billing, issue receipts for every purchase, maintain bill records and follow organised queue systems at outlets across Tamil Nadu.
With digital booking and increased monitoring measures, TASMAC is moving towards a more transparent purchase system, though customers will closely watch how effectively the new platform addresses issues such as stock accuracy and overcharging.
