Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone’s flagship Mundra Port has achieved a major milestone by handling 21,085 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) on the ultra-large container vessel MSC Ambra, setting a new record for the highest container volume handled from a single ship at any Indian port.
The new benchmark surpasses the previous national record of 16,569 TEUs, also set at Mundra Port in January 2024 aboard MSC Livorno. The achievement highlights the port’s growing capability to handle some of the world’s largest container ships efficiently.
Stretching around 400 metres in length, MSC Ambra is among the world’s largest container vessels and requires deep-draft infrastructure, high-capacity cranes and seamless cargo evacuation systems. Mundra Port is one of the few Indian ports equipped to accommodate ships of this scale, reinforcing its position as a key hub in global maritime trade.
