India’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sector has received a boost with EnerComp Solutions introducing the HANS VTOL, an indigenous hybrid fixed-wing UAV designed for advanced surveillance, mapping and logistics operations.

Developed and manufactured entirely in India, HANS combines vertical take-off and landing capability with the endurance and efficiency of a fixed-wing aircraft. The platform can operate without a runway, allowing deployment from challenging locations such as remote areas, forests, mountains and forward operating zones.
The UAV offers up to 240 minutes of flight endurance, a payload capacity of 5 to 8 kilograms, an operational range of up to 50 kilometres and an altitude capability of 5,000 metres. These features enable it to perform long-duration missions across diverse terrains.
With a low acoustic signature, HANS is designed for discreet surveillance applications, including border monitoring, infrastructure inspection, pipeline surveillance, wildlife protection and forest management.
For mapping and surveying operations, the UAV can integrate PPK and RTK positioning systems, high-resolution RGB cameras and LiDAR sensors to deliver accurate geospatial data. This makes it suitable for infrastructure projects, mining, environmental monitoring and disaster assessment.
The platform also supports logistics missions by carrying essential supplies such as medical equipment, emergency aid and spare parts to remote and difficult-to-access locations. Its autonomous cargo delivery capability can support disaster relief and operations in isolated regions.
Built with carbon composite materials, HANS offers durability, lightweight construction and improved aerodynamic performance. The UAV highlights India’s growing capabilities in indigenous aerospace and defence technology development while supporting the country’s push for self-reliance in advanced unmanned systems.
