Swiggy and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have partnered to launch India’s first cooking gas cylinder delivery service through a quick-commerce platform, allowing customers to order LPG cylinders directly from a mobile app.

The service will initially provide doorstep delivery of smaller LPG cylinders with capacities of 5 kg and 10 kg, offering a convenient alternative to traditional cylinder booking and delivery systems. The pilot programme will begin in Bengaluru before being expanded to other cities.
According to the companies, customers will not require an existing HP Gas connection to purchase these smaller cylinders through the platform. Pricing details for the service have not been disclosed yet.
The move comes as India continues to witness rising demand for faster and more convenient household delivery solutions. It also follows concerns over cooking gas availability during recent geopolitical disruptions, including supply challenges reported during the Iran conflict.
India is the world’s second-largest LPG consumer, with cooking gas distribution largely managed by state-owned fuel companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and HPCL.
The partnership adds LPG cylinders to Swiggy Instamart’s growing range of products, which already includes groceries, fresh produce, snacks, electronics and household essentials.
For HPCL, the collaboration represents an expansion of its digital delivery ecosystem, while Swiggy aims to strengthen its quick-commerce offerings by entering a critical household utility segment.
