Choosing the right career path for a child is often a difficult decision for parents. Questions such as which field to pursue for higher education or what profession best suits a child’s interests are common, but the answers are rarely clear.

Now, Artificial Intelligence (AI) could make that decision easier.
Two Malayali researchers have received a patent for developing an AI-based technology that identifies the interests and aptitudes of children and individuals, and recommends career paths best suited to their strengths.
The innovation was developed by Dr. Sudheep Elayidom, Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), and Dr. Anupama, a faculty member at Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth Deemed University.
The patented system combines psychology, artificial intelligence, computer vision and the Internet of Things (IoT) to analyse an individual’s interests and behavioural patterns. Based on this assessment, the technology can suggest suitable academic and career options.
The researchers believe the AI-powered system could help students make more informed career choices while giving parents and educators a scientific tool to guide children toward professions that match their skills and interests.
