The Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), a premier laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for its six-month paid internship programme for 2026. The internship is open to eligible final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing engineering and science courses at recognised Indian institutions. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 during the internship period.

The internship offers students an opportunity to work on advanced research projects in defence and metallurgical technologies under the guidance of DRDO scientists. Through hands-on exposure to cutting-edge research, participants will gain practical experience in areas related to defence materials, manufacturing technologies, and scientific innovation.
Applicants must be in the final year of their BE/BTech, ME/MTech, or MSc programmes in relevant disciplines and meet the academic eligibility criteria specified in the official notification. Candidates are required to submit the prescribed application form along with supporting documents, including academic records, a recommendation letter from their institution, Aadhaar proof, and a brief bio-data.
The selection process will be based on scrutiny of applications and academic merit. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by DMRL and will have to produce original documents at the time of joining. The internship will be conducted at the DMRL campus in Hyderabad, providing students with exposure to DRDO’s research ecosystem and defence technology projects.
Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format before July 15, 2026. Interested students can download the notification and application form from the official DRDO vacancies portal and submit their applications as instructed in the notification.
