The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC) has launched a 13,000-square-foot Research, Design & Innovation (RD&I) Centre in Whitefield, Bengaluru, marking a major investment in India’s growing ice cream and frozen dessert market.

The new facility will support innovation for Kwality Wall’s (India) Limited and its portfolio of popular brands, including Cornetto, Magnum, Carte D’Or, Feast and Twister. Designed as an advanced innovation hub, the centre combines modern laboratories, a digitally enabled pilot plant, packaging development facilities and consumer research capabilities.
The facility will focus on accelerating product development by enabling faster experimentation, testing and commercialisation of new ice cream products suited to Indian consumer preferences.
Speaking about the launch, Chitrank Goel, Deputy Managing Director, Kwality Wall’s (India) Limited, said the centre will help the company create products that better reflect changing consumer tastes while reducing the time required to bring new ideas to market.
The Bengaluru centre will support the entire product development cycle, including recipe formulation, sensory evaluation, packaging innovation, cold-chain testing and climate performance assessments. It is equipped to develop a wide variety of products such as cups, cones, sticks, kulfi and premium ice cream cakes.
According to Zbigniew Lewicki, Chief Research, Development & Innovation Officer at TMICC, India is becoming one of the company’s most important markets due to evolving consumer preferences and rising demand for innovative frozen desserts.
The new centre will work closely with TMICC’s global research hubs in Colworth, United Kingdom, and Istanbul, Türkiye, enabling global knowledge sharing and faster innovation.
The launch of the Bengaluru RD&I Centre reflects TMICC’s strategy to strengthen local research capabilities, expand its presence in India and develop ice cream products tailored to the country’s diverse tastes and preferences.
