Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), known under the brand Milma, has launched automatic milk vending machines at metro stations and “Chill Mill” franchise outlets in Kochi, marking a new step in expanding the availability of dairy products across urban locations.

The initiative was implemented by Milma’s Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) and inaugurated at a formal event held in the city.
Government support and project launch
The project was inaugurated by Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Smt Bindhu Krishna, while Minister for Fisheries, Harbour Engineering and Social Justice Shri V. E. Abdul Gafoor presided over the function.
The minister said Milma is working towards the target of achieving one crore litres of milk production, as envisioned by the state leadership, and urged stronger participation from dairy farmers in cooperative-led programmes.
Expansion of Milma’s urban presence
As part of the event, MP Hibi Eden inaugurated the new “Chill Mill” franchise outlets aimed at increasing Milma’s reach among younger consumers and strengthening its retail footprint in urban markets.
MLA Smt Uma Thomas also delivered an anti-drug awareness message for campuses during the programme.
MoU to boost market reach
Milma Managing Director Shri Asif K. Yusuf signed and exchanged a memorandum of understanding with Abad Foods CEO Shri Faraz Javeed to further expand the distribution and market presence of Milma products.

The event was attended by Kochi Corporation Mayor Smt Minimol V. K., MLAs Deepak Joy and Tony Chammany, ERCMPU Chairman C. N. Valsalan Pillai, and Managing Director Wilson J. Puravakkatt, along with cooperative leaders, dairy farmers, and senior officials.

The initiative reflects Milma’s broader push to modernize dairy distribution through automated systems and strengthen its presence in high-traffic urban locations like metro stations, while also promoting dairy consumption among the younger generation.
