National Security Advisor Ajit Doval told Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that both India and China must show sensitivity to each other’s “core concerns” as the two sides work towards rebuilding strained ties.

Doval held discussions with Wang in New Delhi on the sidelines of a BRICS security officials’ meeting, where both leaders reviewed the broader state of India-China relations, including developments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
According to External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Doval stressed that stable, predictable and constructive ties would help build greater trust and understanding between the two countries. He also underlined the need for consistent mutual sensitivity, mutual respect and consideration of core issues, without specifying details.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to stabilise relations after more than four years of military tensions in eastern Ladakh. Both sides discussed the current situation along the border and the broader direction of bilateral engagement.
Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong said Wang Yi noted that India and China, as major global economies, should adopt a long-term perspective on their relationship and expand cooperation to support development and modernisation across the Global South.
He also said both countries should respect each other’s core interests, manage sensitive issues carefully, and ensure that the boundary question does not overshadow the wider relationship. He added that improving public understanding on both sides would help create a stronger foundation for ties.
Wang Yi also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to New Delhi for the BRICS National Security Advisors’ meeting.
