The United Arab Emirates will launch its first passenger train service on June 30 under the Etihad Rail network, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transport infrastructure.

The new service is expected to connect major cities and regions across the UAE, offering residents and visitors an alternative to road and air travel for intercity journeys.
Etihad Rail has been developed as a nationwide railway network aimed at improving connectivity, supporting economic growth, and strengthening logistics and passenger mobility.
The passenger launch follows the rollout of freight operations, which are already transporting goods across the country.
Officials believe the railway will reduce travel times, ease pressure on highways, and contribute to tourism and business activity by linking key urban and industrial centres.
The launch of passenger services is also seen as a major step toward the UAE’s long-term vision of building a modern, integrated, and sustainable transport ecosystem.
With the June 30 rollout, the UAE joins a growing number of countries in the region investing heavily in rail-based public transportation.
