Kochi-based solar-electric boat manufacturer Navalt has reached a significant milestone with the arrival of its first vessel in North America. The company’s premium leisure boat, Limo, has been shipped to Halifax, Canada, becoming the first Navalt vessel to enter the North American market.
To make the export feasible, Navalt transported the 10-metre catamaran as a fully engineered knock-down kit. The vessel was dismantled into modular sections and packed into five shipping containers, allowing efficient long-distance transportation and reducing logistics costs.

The Canadian-bound vessel has also been specially adapted for colder weather conditions. It features dual 20 kWh marine-grade lithium battery packs equipped with integrated heating systems to ensure reliable performance during harsh winters in Halifax. The boat is powered by two 15 kW electric motors and retains Navalt’s dual battery-and-motor architecture for operational redundancy.
Founded by entrepreneur Sandith Thandasherry, Navalt has emerged as one of India’s leading solar-electric boat manufacturers. The company has deployed vessels across multiple Indian states and exported boats to countries including Canada, Israel, the Maldives, and Seychelles.
The Halifax project represents Navalt’s first North American delivery and a major step in its efforts to expand sustainable marine transportation solutions globally. The vessel is currently being assembled in Canada and is expected to enter service in July 2026.
