Kapsch TrafficCom will implement India’s first Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) project on a major expressway near New Delhi. The initiative will be carried out in partnership with Superwave Communication And Infrasolution Limited and aims to showcase how connected mobility can improve road safety and traffic flow.

The pilot project will use real-time communication and AI-based situational awareness to assist drivers, particularly in high-risk areas such as temporary construction or maintenance zones. Motorists will receive in-vehicle alerts about roadworks, slow-moving traffic, accidents, congestion, and temporary digital road signs.
Certain sections of the expressway will be fitted with AI-powered video sensors that monitor traffic conditions continuously. These systems will detect incidents like stalled vehicles, heavy congestion, and the presence of road workers, helping traffic operators respond more quickly and efficiently.
In addition to in-vehicle alerts, the system will also be accessible through the Kapsch TrafficAssist mobile application, ensuring that safety updates reach users even without connected car technology.
As part of the project, Kapsch TrafficCom will also train Indian engineers and operators in managing C-ITS systems, using AI-driven traffic analytics, and handling highway operations. The project is expected to be completed within six months.
