Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that his two-day visit to the Netherlands will help deepen cooperation with India in important sectors such as semiconductors, water management, clean energy, trade, and investment.

After arriving in Amsterdam, Modi posted on X that the visit comes at a significant moment, as the proposed India–EU Free Trade Agreement has provided fresh momentum to economic ties between India and Europe. He said the trip offers an opportunity to strengthen collaboration in areas including semiconductors, water, and clean energy.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and will also meet Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. In addition, he will address the Indian community in the Netherlands, which is one of the largest Indian diasporas in mainland Europe.
On arrival, Modi was received by Rear Admiral Ludger Brummelaar, Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, and India’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Kumar Tuhin, along with other senior Dutch officials. He later interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, who welcomed him with cultural performances, including Garba and classical dance.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the broad India–Netherlands partnership, which has expanded beyond trade and investment into sectors such as water management, agriculture, healthcare, and renewable energy. The Netherlands is one of India’s most important economic partners in Europe, with bilateral trade reaching $27.8 billion in 2024–25 and cumulative Dutch investment in India totaling $55.6 billion.
Before traveling to the Netherlands, Modi visited the United Arab Emirates, where he met with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the meeting, he reaffirmed India’s strong support for the UAE and emphasized that New Delhi stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Abu Dhabi amid rising tensions in West Asia.
